It has been founded in 1953 by Mr. José Ferreira and his family. He has brought the Agave sisalana plant from Mexico to our region. The agave's adaptation was great and soon The Ferreira's family started to produce the sisal fiber and sell it to the internal market. Nowadays, Sisaleira Salgadália exports sisal worldwide.
